- The war in Iran and the resulting energy price increases have accelerated global electric vehicle demand, directly benefiting Chinese manufacturers, which now account for 60% of EV sales in emerging markets. China’s EV exports rose 120% in the first half of 2026. 1
- In the week ending 8/1, the number of unemployment claims came below 200,000 for the third straight week. This is the first such streak since October 1969. 2
- 25% of men ages 18–29 trade stocks daily, and 64% of those daily traders reported feeling like failures, compared with just 30% of those who trade less than daily. 3
- AI spending is surging, but the benefits remain concentrated. Magnificent Seven net margins are around 25% (up from 15% in 2023), compared with roughly 10% for the other 493 S&P 500 companies. *4
