• In 1978, 58% of 16- to 19-year-olds had summer jobs. That figure fell to a low of 29.6% in 2010 but has steadily risen since, reaching 35.5% this past summer. 1
• U.S. gross debt has surpassed $40 trillion. Publicly held debt is approaching 100% of GDP, up from just 31.5% in 2001 and nearing World War II-era levels. *1
• Wedding spending rose 8.5% in the first half of 2026. 31% of couples now report using family support, credit cards, or loans to help cover wedding costs. 2
• Younger consumers are drinking less, with only 32% of Gen Z drinking weekly compared with 45% of older generations, creating a long-term headwind for alcohol companies. 3
