Enjoy this week's "Investor Insights," a weekly newsletter that highlights the financial news you need and provides tips and tricks for making better investment decisions.

  • The U.S. buys about 80% of Mexico’s and Canada’s exports, while each country makes up around 15% of U.S. imports. This includes Canadian oil, which supplies nearly 20% of U.S. oil due to an established cross-border refining infrastructure. 1
  • A study led by an MIT management professor found that the average founder of a U.S. startup (from 2007-2014) was nearly 42 years old—not in their 20s or 30s. Contrary to common belief, age turned out to be a strong predictor of success. 2
  • Tech stocks now make up 31% of the S&P 500’s market value. Yet, this is not the first time the market has been overconcentrated. In 1812, financial stocks (banks & insurers) dominated at 71%. By 1900, railroads led at 63% of the market’s overall value. *3
  • Crypto investors tend to be younger and male. Among those 18–29 years old, 42% of men and 17% of women have used crypto. However, only 17% of U.S. adults have invested in or used cryptocurrency. 4
