Spain Pays the Taxes

  • The share of homebuyers receiving down payment assistance has increased from 35% in 2023 to 40% in 2026, with nearly 80% of Gen Z homeowners receiving help and 33% saying they could not have purchased their home without it. 1
  • Emerging market stocks have outperformed this year, with the MSCI Emerging Markets Index up 22%. Yet the index is not as diversified as many investors assume. Companies from China, South Korea, and Taiwan together represent roughly 70% of its allocation. *2
  • Spain’s soccer team, the 2026 World Cup winner, will earn a $50 million prize. However, the players will owe both US federal and state income tax on the portion of their compensation attributable to “services” performed here. 3
  • U.S. gasoline prices climbed above $4.00 per gallon for the first time since mid-June, reaching $4.003, even as Brent crude fell 0.2% to $87.94 per barrel and WTI crude declined 0.6% to $81.29. 4
