NYC Rents Skyrocket

  •  In February, the S&P 500 rose for the fourth consecutive month. Historically, after four-month streaks, the market rose an additional 12% over the next year with positive returns 84% of the time. 1
  • In a recent study, 33% of people reported that they had spent more money on something than they could afford because they felt the need to keep up with others on social media. This percentage rose to 51% for those who spent more than 3 hours a day on social media. 2
  • A rising number of couples are buying homes together before getting married. In 1981, less than 1% of first-time home buyers were unmarried. Today that number is 16%. Yet, these buyers are taking on more risk without the financial protections that come with marriage. 3
  • The average one-bedroom apartment in New York City now rents for $4,200 per month. This is 34% higher than the next closest metro region (Jersey City, NJ). 1
