Healthcare Employment

March 30, 2026

Enjoy this week's "Investor Insights," a weekly newsletter that highlights the financial news you need and provides tips and tricks for making better investment decisions.

  • Over the past year, the U.S. economy added 156,000 jobs, but healthcare alone added 375,000. In other words, without healthcare, the economy would have lost jobs. One reason is that the 85-and-over population (the most care-intensive age group) is projected to double by 2035. 1
  • Stock market corrections are common. Since 1990, only three years have avoided at least a 5% pullback. A 10% correction happens about once every 1.8 years, and about 54% of the time it goes on to become a 15% correction. 2
  • At the end of last week, Nvidia traded at 19.7x forward earnings, below the S&P 500’s average of 20.3x. Since the Iran conflict began, Nvidia has traded at a discount to the market, ending a 13-year stretch of trading at a premium to the S&P 500. 3
  • A recent academic study found that a $43 million net worth places a household in the top 0.1%. The wealth of this group has grown more than 13-fold over the past 50 years, helped by the fact that 72% of their assets are in stocks, mutual funds, and private businesses, all of which have seen large valuation gains. 4
